Hunky movie vampire Robert Pattinson has adopted a shelter dog
Good news for Twilight fans and animal-welfare advocates: Robert Pattinson, who plays sparkly vampire Edward Cullen in the mega-blockbuster movie franchise, adopted a shelter dog last week from an animal shelter in Louisiana, where he was filming The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
“I adopted the puppy [because it's] from a shelter and he was going to be put down,” the actor said. “I only got him two or three days ago, and they only keep them for 10 days.”
So far, Pattinson is keeping the dog’s breed and age under wraps, but he did reveal that he is already spoiling his new friend.
“He’s been freaked out. It’s funny. I got a private plane here (to Los Angeles) from Louisiana, where I was filming Twilight, so he came out of the shelter and the next day he’s on a private plane. A bit like Lady And The Tramp.”
Although I commend Pattinson for adopting a shelter dog, he gave an extremely odd interview in which he said that he was counting on his new pet to keep him company in hotel rooms while he’s filming on location. Why? Because his friends refuse to visit him while he’s staying in remote locations.
“I know it’s sad…. But my friends, their egos are too big. They’d be like, ‘I’m not part of your entourage…. I’m not going to come out to some random town in the sticks.’”
Regardless of his odd motives, Pattinson is a die-hard dog fan. When asked what animal he’d like to be, he said, “I think I’d be a dog.”
“The lifestyle of a dog has always fascinated me: You sleep, sit around, get stroked, eat and get walked from time to time. That’s great!” Pattinson said, according to The Daily Record. “There is a deep connection between me and dogs. I’m gonna call him Robert.”
What the???
Who names their pet after themselves? Talk about egos…
