Zuckerberg & Chan with Beast

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and girlfriend Priscilla Chan welcomed a new addition to their home on Sunday, March 6: a white puli puppy named Beast. Of course, the puppy already has a Facebook page.

Although fans can’t friend Beast, they can like his page. So far, the adorable puppy accumulated more than 38,000 likes from dog and Facebook-lovers worldwide.

A medium-small breed of Hungarian herding and livestock guarding dog, the Puli is best known for its long, corded coat, which looks like dreadlocks.

According to one report, Beast was adopted in Oregon, but Zuckerberg hasn’t confirmed where the puppy came from. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for rescue. Ever since President Obama “adopted” a dog from a breeder, I’ve been irritated with major celebrities who buy instead of adopt.

However, given that the puli is a fairly uncommon breed in the United States, it’s more likely that they did buy the puli from a breeder — and probably a great one. As one of the richest men in the world, Mark Zuckerberg should have no problem shelling out the big bucks for a show-quality dog.

The 6.8-lb. Beast has already learned how to climb stairs and, apparently, how to use a keyboard to post his own status updates. Unfortunately, he’s using his computer skills to punk his dad.

Wow, Zucker getting a dog? Wonder whose idea getting a soft, furry sofa dog was? I think Mark Zuckerberg’s befriending anyone or any animal has to be a positive step forward to proving that he is human. He apparently donates a lot of money and settled his ex-business partner’s lawsuit, so surely this puppy love story has to be positive?

Suitable dogs are not always available from all shelters (that is, ones that everyone can look after or deal with potential behavior problems).
At least this may be one that he can handle, and he should be able to have someone exercise it properly.

I think him reaching out is touching, really.
