Halloween is a time for candy, tricks and treats. And dog costumes. Lots of ‘em. Ranging from hideous to funny to wacky and to downright cute, we take a moment today to reflect on some of the best pet outfits (most creative, most unique, and the funniest) we’ve seen in Halloween 2010.

We have picked a few favorite dog costumes, culled from the annual celebration in New York City’s Tompkins Square Park parade. In this pet parade, owners go over the top with the disguises, from wigs to all-out custom-built flotillas. Now, without further ado…

Haha, thats hilarious, I don’t remember when I laugh like that for last time. Some of those pictures are really funny. My pug looks similar, I dressed him like a monkey this year.

Cute pictures but I’m sorry I just can’t go along with the Doggie Dress-up Halloween thing at all. We say such great and gushy things about our doggie friends, how much we love them, their unconditional love for us then once a year we dress them up so they feel like fools wearing all this junk that is so foreign to them leaving them, in most cases, without their dignity. Apparently there are those who think their dogs enjoy it. To each their own I suppose but I would just say to those folks, if you have to costume your dog, select a costume that leaves them just an ounce of dignity. Happy Halloween!

Bill, thanks for your comments. Dressing up a dog in clothes (whether it’s a costume or a dress) definitely takes pet ownership to a whole new dimension. It’s not for everyone. And most times the outfits are just… bad. And tacky. But… maybe it’s not so bad for one day.

Cool and awesome! They are all fantastic and incredible. Especially that dog wearing wonder woman costume. At first, I thought it was standing. The most captivating costume for me is a puppy who wears Micheal Jackson dress. It was really cute. By the way thanks for posting!

This is definitely taking Halloween to the next level. Very cute though. I like the last one -- I had to look twice at it.

I really enjoyed several of these. You can really tell their humans put a lot of thought and time into. My personal favorite is Oscar the Grouch. Its amazing how much the dog looks like the character from Sesame Street.

Wow… how cruel and unfair. A little costume is bad enough (would you like to be shoved in something you had no choice over?!), but dying their animals…plain wrong.
