DogTime MediaThis is the last in a series of posts about the sponsors of the Pets Adviser & DogTime Media Halloween Pets Photo Contest. Today we take a closer look at our contest partner, DogTime Media.

Since the company launched in 2007, DogTime Media, parent of pet-rescue sites DogTime.com and CatTime.com, has made a remarkable difference in the way homeless pets find people. Some of the cool stuff they’ve done includes:

  • Developed the DogTime Grant Program, which provides monthly grants to shelters and rescues who need help with the technical aspects of finding homes for their animals via the internet.
  • Partners with the excellent adoption portal, RescueGroups.org, to provide the largest and easiest-to-use adoptable pet databases. More than 3,000 shelters and rescues partner with DogTime Media, and theirs is the only ASPCA-approved adoptable pet database.
  • Provides much-needed funds to rescues and shelters — so far, they’ve donated more than $230,000. Their current contest will award the winner with $10,000 to donate to his or her favorite shelter.

DogTime’s newest baby is a set of twins! Its Facebook applications, Save a Dog and Save a Cat, give pet lovers a chance to give back by facilitating donations to shelters and rescues nationwide.

So far, more than half a million people have used the new apps, which allow users to virtually “adopt” a shelter cat or dog, enabling them to increase exposure and donate funds to the rescue of their choice. The site has clocked more than 10 million “virtual fosters” across the country.

With the use of the two apps, as well as the company’s adoptable pet interface, which can be placed on any website (here’s ours), people have made more than 12 million adoption searches through DogTime.

We at Pets Adviser are proud to partner with DogTime for our Halloween Pets Photo Contest.

Simon Tonner, VP of Marketing and Sales at DogTime, says:

“Our goal at DogTime is to help our fellow pet publishers grow while supporting animal welfare causes.  Pets Adviser is such a great site and when they came up with this great idea for a contest we simply had to participate!”

DogTime’s dedication to helping the “little guys” — including dogs, cats and the grassroots organizations that work so hard to help them — is inspiring.
