Can Dogs Predict Death? Need pet psychics?

Move over Oscar the death cat. There’s another psychic pet in town: Skamp the death dog.

You may remember Oscar, the cat that was said to be able to predict when people were about to die. Oscar would hop onto the bed of dying nursing home patients in Rhode Island and wait with them, purring loudly, until they passed away. Then he’d leave, making the rounds in the home and keeping to himself until he sensed another was about to kick the bucket. Oscar was said to have accurately predicted death 50 times.

Yes, very creepy pet behavior. You do not want to see that cat jump up onto your bed.

Well, there’s also Skamp, a schnauzer, who was said to scamper over to the bedside of dying nursing home patients in Ohio. “He does sense when someone’s distressed,” said Adeline Baker, director of nursing at the Pines. “He comforts us, too.”

She says Skamp had watched over the deaths of 30 to 40 patients, adding that “he’s a very intuitive dog.”

So there you have it. A psychic cat that predicts death, and a psychic dog that predicts death. How long before we learn about a psychic parrot who actually tells people they are going to die. Spooky.
